Margarita Buttenmueller is a Singapore-based contemporary artist working predominantly with oil and acrylic mediums.
Originally from Russia, she also lived in Germany, UK, USA, and twice in Singapore. Her artistic journey started in 2012 by taking painting classes just for fun in one of the art studios in Singapore. Later in London, she attended such art schools as The Art Academy, Morley College, and Central Saint Martins while having a fulltime job in a tech startup. Upon moving to New York, Margarita decided to give up her career in marketing to become a full-time artist. She attended classes in the Art Students League of New York and Bridgeview School of Fine Arts, and participated in a few exhibitions in New York City prior to moving back to Singapore.
In her work, Margarita is particularly drawn to the interplay of colors. She loves capturing the ever-changing patterns cast by the sun, the subtle hues of twilight, and the dramatic contrasts that arise during various times of the day. She strives to capture these fleeting moments, inviting viewers to pause and immerse themselves in a world where time seems suspended.
